Overview

The Noras Reference Marker is used to mark a reference location when performing an MR-guided interventional procedure using the grid method.

Use Instructions

  1. Prior to imaging fill the SureLoc Reference Marker completely with MRI contrast agent and perform a test measurement according to section “Filling Instructions” below.
  2. Position the patient in the interventional coil device using grid setup.
  3. Position the patient such that the target can be reached and apply the necessary immobilization.
  4. Place the SureLoc Reference Marker in any grid location on the grid biopsy plate that will be in the imaging field of view.
  5.  Position so as to not prevent insertion of the guide block, which will be inserted after coordinate calculation.
  6. Note: For use with certain grids from Invivo for the eLBS breast coil please follow additional instructions in Sureloc Offset Grid Bulletin (CAD-12203) from October 2012. Acquire images with SureLoc Reference Marker in the field of view.

Filling Instructions

  1. Open the marker by screwing the cap off by hand.
  2. The marker must be filled with diluted MRI contrast agent to make it visible in MRI. To do so, fill a syringe with contrast agent (diluted 1: 200 by sodium chloride solution) and then slowly fill the marker with the syringe up to the edge of the marker thread starting at the bottom of the marker. Rotate the syringe during filling to prevent the formation of bubbles.
  3. Screw the cap back on and tighten by hand.
  4. Test marker imaging by installing the biopsy system and taking a test measurement.
  5. The markers must be homogeneously imaged as a straight line. They must not exhibit any “holes” or “kinks”, which are the result of air bubbles.

Cleaning Instructions

  1. Markers must be emptied prior to steam sterilization! To empty them, open the markers as described above and empty them.
  2. Use a syringe (filled with distilled water) to rinse out the markers starting at the bottom of the marker to remove any residual marker liquid.
  3. Dry them or open and place them in upright position within the steam autoclave.
